Take Back Your Vitality!

Beginning at around thirty years of age, testosterone production in women decrease as a result of many causes. The decline in testosterone bioavailability, or “free testosterone” causes the body’s testosterone receptor cells to malfunction and no longer respond to the testosterone signals. Testosterone deficiency can negatively impact nearly every cell in the body and lead to the development of several major degenerative diseases.

Services for Women

  • Biological testosterone pellets with results lasting approximately 6 months.
  • This will include follow-up office visits to check hormone levels as well as other lab values that may contribute to hormonal imbalance in women.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bioidentical hormones are natural hormones with the same molecular structure as the hormones made by your body. Typical hormone replacement uses synthetic hormones, which are foreign to the body and can have unpleasant side effects or possibly not provide enough hormones needed during menopause.

How Does it Work?

Bioidentical hormone therapy begins with lab work to determine your body’s unique hormone levels. Then, a mixture of hormones that are targeted to your body’s specific needs is made into a compound in the form of a cream, gel, injection, pellet or capsule. Transdermal, capsule, and injectable forms seem to be best because they bypass the liver and gastrointestinal system. However, the consequence is a rapid increase and rapid decrease in testosterone causing a rollercoaster of side effects as the medication begins to work and stops working before your next dose.

In the beginning of your therapy, you will need frequent testing to check that each hormone component is in proper balance. Once balance is restored, you will only need another treatment in 4-6 months depending on own body’s ability to absorb the pellets. You will normally see improvement within the first two to three weeks of therapy, but it may take up to eight weeks to feel the full effect. We want to achieve balance with the lowest dose of each hormone as also recommended by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The bioidentical hormone therapy program combines hormone replacement with dietary and lifestyle recommendations.

Safe and Effective Bioidentical Pellet Therapy
for Women

Bioidentical Pellet Therapy offers many benefits to women over traditional Hormone Replacement Therapies. Bioidentical Pellet Therapy uses hormones that are bioidentical, this means the hormones are the exact same molecular structure as the naturally occurring human hormones. Bioidentical hormones are found in nature and are derived from plants. This implies that Bioidentical Pellet Therapy uses hormones that are more natural than those often prescribed by conventional physicians. In addition, bioidentical pellet therapy offers a convenience benefit as the pellets remain in the body and release a steady state of hormones that the body requires. In comparison other hormone replacement therapy options can be inconsistent in their delivery resulting in a roller coaster effect in many women.

What You Need to Know About HRT

Is it effective?
Research shows that testosterone implants are effective in treating symptoms in women. These implants are placed under the skin and consistently release small, physiologic doses of hormones, providing optimal therapy typically without side effects.

What are pellets made of?
Pellets, also referred to as implants, are composed of bio-identical hormones, that is, hormones identical to those our body produces, such as testosterone or estrogen. These hormones are derived from natural plants and are compressed into tiny solid cylinders, larger than a grain of rice but smaller than a ‘Tic Tac.’ Most pellets in the U.S. are produced by compounding pharmacists and delivered in sterile glass vials.

How are pellets different from other hormone therapies?
Pellets are favored because they provide steady, healthy levels of hormones for 3-4 months in women, avoiding the hormonal fluctuations seen with other delivery methods. This stability is crucial for optimal health and disease prevention. Pellets do not increase the risk of blood clots, unlike conventional or synthetic hormone replacement therapy.

In comparison to traditional hormone replacement therapy, pellets have been found superior for relieving menopausal symptoms, maintaining bone density, restoring sleep patterns, and enhancing sex drive, libido, sexual response, and performance. Testosterone delivered via pellet implants has been utilized to treat migraines and menstrual headaches and improve urinary and sexual health. Women can benefit from increased energy, improved mood, reduced anxiety, and enhanced memory and concentration from testosterone delivered by pellet implants.

Pellets have proven highly successful even for patients who have not responded well to other hormone therapies. The convenience of pellet implants is unparalleled among hormone delivery methods. They have been in use in women since the late 1930s, and substantial data supports their effectiveness. Bio-identical progesterone has not been found to increase the risk of breast cancer like synthetic progestins.

When will I feel results?
After the insertion of pellets, patients may start noticing improvements within 24-48 hours, although for some, it may take 10-14 days. Balanced diet, exercise, and stress management are all essential for optimal health and the effectiveness of the testosterone implant.

How long will the pellets last?
Pellets generally last 3-5 months in women and do not need to be removed as they dissolve on their own. Not all pellets are created equal, and their efficacy may vary.

Which hormones are in the pellets?
Progesterone treatment is not required when only testosterone implants are used. If estradiol or other estrogen therapy is added, progestin therapy is needed to prevent the stimulation of the uterine lining caused by estrogen. Progesterone may be beneficial for women struggling with sleep issues, hot flashes, tension, or anxiety.

Hormone levels may be tested before starting therapy. This can include an FSH, estradiol, and testosterone for women, and a PSA (prostate specific antigen), sensitive estradiol testosterone (free and total), liver profile, complete blood count, thyroid hormone levels, Vitamins D, and B12. Subsequent hormone levels may be tested as needed.

How much does this therapy cost?
The cost of pellet insertion varies based on the dose and the number of pellets needed. The procedure may not be covered by most insurance companies, but pellets often prove cost-effective when compared to the cost of treating the individual symptoms of hormone decline.

What benefits can I expect?
Testosterone pellets can be beneficial even for premenopausal women, helping with migraines, menstrual headaches, PMS symptoms, anxiety, depression, energy levels, sleep, and sex drive. However, birth control is recommended for premenopausal women receiving testosterone pellets due to the theoretical risk of masculinizing a female fetus.

What side-effects can I expect?
Allergic reactions to implants are extremely rare, often characterized by a localized area of redness and itching at the implant site. Many patients with such reactions have low cortisol levels and may be recommended cortisol treatment. If itching is bothersome, 25-50 mg of Benadryl may be beneficial.

Can change the trajectory of your intimate health?

Yes! Regenerative Medicine is focused on developing and applying new treatments to heal tissues and organs and restore function lost due to aging, disease, damage or defects.

When injured or invaded by disease, our bodies have the innate response to heal and defend. The field of regenerative medicine focuses on restoring structure and function of damaged tissues and organs. Regenerative medicine goes beyond disease management to search for and discover therapies that support the body in repairing, regenerating and restoring itself to a state of well-being.

Meet Owner and Nurse Practitioner, Sharyn L. Cass

Sharyn L. Cass, ANP-C is an Adult Medicine Nurse Practitioner in Hamburg, NY. Ms. Cass has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare field.

“My ultimate goal in healthcare is to promote confidence, personal growth, and foster intimacy and love in relationships. Suffering from urinary incontinence, sexual displeasure, and erectile dysfunction (ED) is frustrating, embarrassing and disempowering for a great many of people who experience it. Who do men and women turn to when previous treatments do not work or are not available? Who can men and women speak to when they are embarrassed to discuss the matter with another medical provider? In my experience during my healthcare career, sexual issues that are brought to a patient’s medical provider are solved with a referral to GYN or urology or given medications and, still, their issues are unmet. Who can you turn to? Me. My treatments work. I focus on the entire human being. I give 110% care to all my patients, because EVERYONE deserves a life lived with joy, confidence, and happiness.”
